Evan AMES


11, Brook Street, Whiston

Private 46500, 11th Bn., South Lancashire Regiment

Later Private 45737, Berkshire Regiment

Evan born on 3rd September 1897 and was the brother of Thomas Ames. At the time of the 1911 census, the family lived at 11, Brook Street Whiston.

It isn't known when Evan went overseas, but his Medal entitlement of British War Medal and Victory Medal, but no Star, suggests that he did not go overseas before 1916. At some point in his service, he was transferred to the Berkshire Regiment

After the war, her married Elsie Naylor in the September quarter of 1925 in Prescot, and they had a son, Robert, born in 1928.

In the 1939 National Register, Evan lived at 26, Station Road, Prescot with Elsie and their son, Robert. Evan was employed as a Coal Miner.

He died in Prescot in December 1960, aged 63
