39, Bretherton Road, Prescot L/Sgt 12557, 3rd Bn., King's (Liverpool) Regiment Born in Liverpool in 1872, Edward worked as a General Labourer at the Wire Works when the 1911 census was taken. Aged 39, he lived with his American wife, Catherine, and their five sons and a daughter, including Thomas Basnett.
Edward attested to the King's (Liverpool) Regiment on 24th October 1914 and was included in the list of Prescot men serving the Colours, published in May 1915.
He was discharged on 23rd October 1917, aged 45. Having not served overseas, he did not have a medal entitlement though he did qualify for the Silver War Badge.
