Pte Robinson went to France with his unit on 6th November 1915.
The Battalion War Diary for August 1917 reads as follows:-
At the beginning of the month the Battn was still in the CHATEAU SEGARD Area, S of YPRES. Work was done upon forward Tracks and between the 1st & the 6th when the Battn. left the area, the casualties were 1 O.R. Killed and 15 O.R. wounded.
Upon the 5th the Battn marched to RENINGHELST Stn and entrained for BOIEWAERSENIE. Here it stayed until the 7th, when it marched to STRAZEELE & remained under canvas in the training area until the 11th inst. On that date the Battn marched to EPSOM CAMP, Nr Westoutre and began training.
On the 16th however the Battn moved by road to VIERSTRAAT where work was begun upon the MESSINES RIDGE DEFENCES. Upon the 22nd inst. the Battalion moved from VIERSTRAAT to SPY FARM, Nr. LINIENHOEK taking over its present quarters from the Pioneers of the 4th Australian Divn.
Work was done upon MANCHESTER ST (Forward C.T.), forward roads and camouflage. The casualties between the 8th and the end of the month were two O.R.s wounded, making a total of 1 O.R. Killed and 17 O.R.s wounded during the month.
