Service DetailsHarry enlisted to the Army on 12th December 1915, aged 21 and single. Living at Royal Oak Farm, Whiston, he gave his occupation as a Cowman. His next of kin was his sister, Nora, at the same address.
He was initially posted to the Army Reserve and was only mobilised on 16th May 1916, being posted to the Royal Garrison Artillery
He went to France on 8th January 1917. He was wounded on 12th June and admitted to No 3 Stationary Hospital at Rouen on 16th, but sadly he died of his wounds on 22nd .
Hary was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal. His next of kin was listed as his mother, Mary Jane Sumner of Royal Oak Farm.
The Register of Soldiers Effects, shown below, listed his mother as sole legatee, also recording that he died of wounds at No 3 Stationary Hospital in Rouen.
