The family lived at 38, Eccleston Street, Prescot. David F. Roberts, a 41 year old joiner lived with his wife Jane (39) and children William (9), Elizabeth (7) and David (2).
1901 Census -
Now living at Park Hill House, Aspinall Street, David is going by his middle name of Francis. All other family members and details are unchanged.
1911 Census -
David still lived with his parents at 6, Aspinall Street, Prescot. He was 22 years old and worked as an Assistant Foreman in the Mechanical Department of the Wire Works.

Service DetailsDavid's father, also called David Francis Roberts, was seriously injured in a train crash at Ditton in 1912, finally succumbing to his injuries in July 1913. He was one of 16 people who died in the crash.
David Roberts originally served as Lance Corporal 1119 with the Lancashire Hussars but on 15th October 1915 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers.
He remained in the UK until going to Egypt with his unit on 23rd May 1917.
2/Lt Roberts' is recorded as being killed in action on 2nd November 1917, though no details of the action in which he died are known.
He was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal, and these were applied for by his sister, Mrs W Humphreys-Jones, on 22nd March 1922
2/Lt Roberts' service is commemorated on the BICC Memorial, United Reformed Church Roll of Honour and the Grammar School Roll of Honour
Lt Roberts is also commemorated on the family headstone in St Mary's Churchyard
