Henry's listing in the 1914 Electoral Roll for Prescot
The above extract from the Medal Rolls held at the National Archives, shows Henry among a group of men transferred from the King's (Liverpool) Regiment to the Machine Gun Corps on an unknown date
In October 1918, 41 MGC were attacking L'Escaut in the Courtrai area. The Battalion War Diary doesn't give any details of casualties.
The Parish Magazine reported on 28th December 1918 'Five more names for our Roll of Honour' and included 'Pte. Henry Lea,,33, Machine Gun Corps, killed in action 25th October 1918, of 4 Court, Moss Street, leaves a widow and 3 children'.
Henry was originally buried close to where he fell, but in August 1920 his body was exhumed and reburied at Vichte
The Register of Soldiers Effects lists the payments made to his widow, including the payment in respect of his children
Henry Lea's Medal Index Card. His entitlement was to the British War Medal and Victory Medal
