Service DetailsAt some point after the 1911 census, William started work at the Wire Works in Prescot
He married Clementine (Lemmie) Martin of 42 Scotchbarn Lane, Prescot, in the summer of 1914.
Though it's hard to be accurate, his details suggest that he enlisted in the army in or around June 1916
In July 1917, the 7th Battalion of the South Lancs were close to ONRAET FARM, near Ypres in Belgium. In an attack on the German lines, William Hosker and one other man were killed in action.
Neither of them have a marked grave and they are remembered on the Menin Gate in Ypres.
Pte Hosker was included in the official casualty list published on 21st August 1917
The Register of Soldiers Effects lists William's widow, Clementine, as his sole legatee
Private Hosker is commemorated on the BICC Memorial Plaques
