Scotchbarn Lane, Prescot Sapper 7647, Royal Engineers Attesting at St Helens on 8th March 1915, aged 30, David stated that he had previously served for 2 years with the Territorial RE. His occupation was 'Wire Drawer' and his next of kin was listed as his wife, Elizabeth, of the same address. (He lived in Hale View Road, Huyton but had previously lived in Scotchbarn Lane)
David was Absent Without Leave for four days in October 1916 and was sentenced to three days 'Confined to Barracks'.
Arrived in France on 8th May 1917.
David was dispatched back to the UK on 15th December 1918 as one of the first men to be demobbed. Strangely he is classed as a 'MINER', which explains the early demob.
Transferred to Class 'Z' Reserve in February 1919.
Died in Prescot in 1959, aged 76 Ref. No.:
