14 West Street, Prescot AM2, 250097, Royal Air Force George was born on 27th December 1899 in Prescot, the son of William Gorge Eaton and his wife Sarah. William was for many years the Sexton of Prescot Parish Church and the Eaton family had been part of Prescot for many years. The earliest family burials in St Mary's Churchyard date back to 1665.
George attended Prescot Grammar School from 1911 to 1914.
On 15th February 1918 he enlisted to the Royal Naval Air Service, recording his occupation as 'Apprentice Turner'.
After training, he went to Dunkirk on 28th March 1918 and was then posted to No 15 Squadron, which soon merged with the Royal Flying Corps to form the Royal Air Force.
He remained in the RAF until being discharged on 6th May 1919. I believe his medal entitlement was to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
On 22nd December 1923, he married Sarah Moorcroft in Prescot. In late 1938, he re-enlisted in the RAF Reserve. At that time, he recorded his occupation as 'Washing Machine Builder'.
I have no further information on George Eaton after this date.
