Harry SWIFT

Harry Swift was born in Prescot on 20th November 1894, the son of Elizabeth Swift (father's name unknown).

At the time of the 1911 census, 55 year old widow Elizabeth lived at the above address, where she also worked as a Confectioner. Harry, her third son, was 16 years old and worked at the Wire Works as an Apprentice Machinist.

The family were Wesleyans.

Harry joined the Royal Air Force on 27th July 1918 with the rank of Air Mechanic (3), and was employed as an Armourer. His civilian occupation was recorded as Fitter & Turner and Elizabeth, his mother, was listed as Next of Kin.

He was demobilised at Heaton Park on 25th March 1919. He did not serve overseas.
