12, Cook Street, Prescot 2nd Corporal 7030 (later 432099), West Lancs Div Signal Cpy, Royal Engineers William was born in Prescot on 23rd August 1891, the son of George and Ann Bostock.
Before the war, William worked at the Wire Works as a Copper Wire Drawer. He was aged 19 at the time of the 1911 census and was single, living at the above address with his widowed mother.
He did not go overseas before 1916 and there are no surviving details of his service, but it is known that he was awarded the Military Medal and Bar. The first award was gazetted on 16th November 1916 and the second on 18th October 1917.
In addiion to his gallantry awards, William was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
William died in Prescot in 1928, aged 37
