18 Cyprus Street, Prescot 141999, Royal Air Force Redvers Henry Atherton was born on 25th February 1900 in Prescot, the son of Robert and Ann Atherton. The 1911 census showed him as a 10 year old Scholar.
He was a younger brother of John Atherton
He joined the Royal Air Force, giving his occupation as Fitter, on 11th April 1918, signing on for the "Duration of War". He was also employed as a Fitter whilst in service.
Revders went to France on 28th April 1918 and remained there until 16th May 1919 when he returned to the UK to prepare for demobilisation.
He was discharged to the Class G Reserve on 17th June 1919. No details of his service are known. He was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal, receiving these in November of 1921.
After the war, Redvers married Grace Coombs in Prescot in the summer of 1926.
At the time of the 1939 National Register, Redvers lived at 16, Wood Lane, Prescot and was employed as a Foreman in the Tool Room of the Wire Works
