William ELLISON

Pte 29310, 5th Bn., South Lancashire Regiment

22 year old Grocer's Assistant attested to the army on 9th December 1915 in Prescot. He was a single man, his next of kin being his mother Ann of the same address.

He was posted on 25th January 1916 to and remained in the UK until 17th February 1917 when he was sent to France, remaining there until he was wounded in action on 2nd October 1918. He returned to the UK on 5th October 1918 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

After the armistice, William was posted to the Royal Defence Corps in Douglas (Isle of Man) on 13th January 1919. He was demobilised on 27th September 1919.

William was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
