William John BISHOP

22 Grosvenor Road, Prescot

Pte 355000, Army Service Corps

William was born in Prescot on 1st February 1898.

Aged 18, he gave his occupation as Horse Dresser when he joined the army on 4th June 1916. He was the younger brother of Thomas Henry Bishop.

His next of kin was his father, Oliver, at the same address.

He wasn't posted until 26th May 1917 when he joined the Remount Depot at Ormskirk, but was discharged on 12th November that year as he was no longer physically fit for service. He had suffered from Valvular Disease of the Heart before joining the army, and it was this which led to his discharge.

William did not serve overseas and so had no medal entitlement.
