49, Eccleston Street, Prescot Private 22552, Royal Army Medical Corps John Steven was an Engineer at the BI&HC Co Ltd when he attested for military service on 12th December 1915 at Prescot. He was 38 years old. He was initially posted to the Reserve and married Ellen Green in Prescot on 12th June 1916, after which he was called up and embodied. He joined the 3rd Battalion of the South Lancs Regiment on 28th August 1916 but was discharged on 10th October that year as being unlikely to make an efficient soldier as he suffered from ulceration of the vocal cords.
His address on discharge was 12, Highfield Place, Prescot.
