Born in Prescot in 1885, George, a Bricklayer, married Maud Valentine in the Summer of 1914. As a reservist, he was embodied into the army on 31st August 1915, aged 30. He then went to France on 2nd October 1916.
Although no dates are available, it is know that George was gassed and he returned to England on UK 27th September 1918.
He was eventually discharged as no longer physically fit for military service 3rd March 1917, due to Gas Poisoning.
His address on discharge was given as 97, Napier Road, St Helens
George was classed as 30% disabled due to the effects of the Gas Poisoning and was granted a pension. He was entitled to the British War Medal, Victory Medal and Silver War Badge.

He died in Prescot in 1958, aged 73.
