At the time of the 1911 census, James (aged 19), lived with his family (see Samuel Strettle for details).
James was listed in the Prescot Reporter list of men with the colours in May 1915.
He sailed for France with the RFA on 17th July 1915. No further details of his service have been located.
James was entitled to the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. He died in Prescot in 1962, aged 70. Ref. No.:
