Service DetailsPrivate Burgess is remembered on the BICC Memorial
He went to France with this unit on 13th February 1915
On 13th May, the Battalion was located close to Ypres. The War Diary reads,
"13th May 1915
4:00 am
Enemy opened heavy artillery fire on our whole position and ground in rear"
5 men of the battalion, including Pte Burgess, were killed.
The Manchester Evening News listed Private Burgess along with other Prescot and St Helens men as casualties in its edition of 19th June 1915
His medal entitlement was to the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal
