Service DetailsThomas Prescott was a Territorial with the Royal Engineers.
He did not go overseas before 1916 and was included in a list of wounded men published in the Liverpool Daily Post on 19th September 1916 (shown below).
He was renumbered in the March 1917 renumbering of the Territorial force. As he was killed two months earlier, it would appear that he had perhaps been reported as 'missing' and his death not yet confirmed by March 1917.
The Parish Magazine of 27th November 1916 reported 'The following have fallen in the present fighting on various battlefields' and included 'Sapper Thomas Prescott, 22, R.E., of 46, Sutherland Road. January 1917'
The Register of Soldiers Effects listed Thomas' widow Catherine as his next of kin
Thomas Prescott's Medal Index Card. This lists his entitlement to the British War Medal and Victory Medal. It also shows both of his service numbers whilst serving with the Royal Engineers.
