George was by now aged 22. He lived as a Boarder at 14, Burrowlee Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield, and worked as a Steward's assistant at the County Asylum

Service DetailsGeorge Frederick Yates went to France with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps on 18th August 1915.
It isn't clear when he transferred to the Manchester Regiment.
His records show that he died of disease on 27th December 1918. His father, William, was his next of kin
George Yates' Medal Index Card shows service with the Army Ordnance Corps before transferring to the Manchester Regiment.
