Service Details

Arthur Wellesley Beavan was born in Liverpool on 14th May 1885, the eldest son of John and Eliza Beavan

The 1911 census listed Arthur as a 25 year old Labourer living his parents and siblings at 95, Upper Stanhope Street, Liverpool.

It has not been possible to accurately identify his military service, but there is a record for the British War Medal being awarded to a Pilot Flight Officer of this name in the Royal Naval Air Service.

Then in the Prescot Parish Church magazine in January 1920, is an entry which reads

"Thursday January 15th, 2:00 pm.
Funeral of Arthur Wellesley Beavan, aged 34. Died at Rainhill Asylum. Had been badly wounded in the head whilst on Active Service in the late war."

Then on Saturday 17th April 2910, a further entry in the Paraish Magazine reads,

"At 2:00 pm, burial of John Richard Beavan, aged 65, of 27 Cam Street, Liverpool. Died in Toxteth Infirmary, 12th April 1920. Arthur W Beavan, son of the above, was buried here in a public grave on January 15th 1920. There is room in same grave and can be buried in same grave, 6 ft 2 in by 2 ft. Extra Fees, 28/-d. Undertaken, W R Williams, Smithdown Road, Liverpool"

Arthur Beavan's death is not recognised by CWGC and until such time as I am able to identify details of his military service, I cannot put his case forward for consideration.
