Service DetailsJohn Barclay appears to have served for less than 12 months by the time of his death. He initially joined the 6th Battalion of the King’s (Liverpool) Regiment as Private 5378 before transferring to the 2/5th Battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment (Private 5554), then moved to the 8th Battalion of the East Lancs (Private 242567)
He was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal, shown on his Medal Index Card (below)
John's aunt, Amelia Morgan, was listed in the Register of Soldiers Effects as his sile legatee
Private Barclay is remembered on the BICC War Memorial
