Service DetailsAlfred's service number was allocated in the Territorial Force Renumbering of March 1917 which means he only went overseas after that date.
The Register of Soldiers Effects showed that Alfred's next of kin were his brother George and sisters Gladys and Agnes. Research continues to locate an address for the family.
Originally buried close to where he fell, Alfred's body was exhumed and reburied in 1919. The image below, taken from CWGC records, shows that of the 11 men recorded on this one form, only Alfred Fleming was identified. The others are documented as "U.B.S." - Unidentified British Soldier
