Service DetailsGeorge Emeny was not a native of Prescot, but was employed at the Wire Works.
In late 1911, he married Eliza Spark at St John's Church, Ravenhead, St Helens. They had a daughter, Florrie, born in late 1916
Although it isn't clear when he joined up, his service number was only allocated around February 1917.
In August 1917, the Battalion was located near Rue de Bois. As he is buried in Brandhoex Military Cemetery, it can be assumed that he died at one of the Field Ambulances which was located there, and so he was probably wounded in the days leading up to his death.
Private Emeny is remembered on the BICC War Memorial and the EFD Roll of Honour
The Register of Soldiers Effects listed George's widow, Eliza Johnson, as sole legatee
Pte Emeny was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal, shown on his Medal Index Card (below)
