Frederick Charles HIND

Fred was born in Uttoxeter, Staffs, in May 1893. He was the youngest son of Henry & Elizabeth Hind who moved to Prescot in the early 1900’s and ran an Ironmonger’s Shop at 63 & 64 Eccleston Street. 18 year old Frederick was listed at this address in the 1911 census, recording his occupation as Ironmonger’s Assistant.

One of his bothers was Herbert H Hind who died in 1921

Frederick’s service number of 25921 suggests an enlistment to the army in the summer of 1916.

He was included in a list of wounded men published on 5th November 1918



Frederick was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal

He married Jessie Howard in Warwickshire in 1923. He died in Prescot on 15th November 1948, aged 55. At that time, he lived at 186 Warrington Road, Prescot, with his wife, Jessie.
