68 Derby Street, Prescot P/L 227630, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Alec was born on 31st October 1897 in Prescot, the youngest of six children to Henry and Emma Franklin. Henry was a Watch Examiner and had moved his family from Coventry to Prescot in the mid-1890's, presumably working at the Watch Factory. Alec and his elder sister, Evelyn, were born in Prescot, but the four elder children were natives of Coventry.
By the time of the 1911 census, the family had moved back to Warwickshire and were living in Rugby. Alec, aged 13, was still at School.
He joined the RNVR 6th May 1918, reporting his occupation as Fitter & Turner. He was posted to HMS 'Vivid' which was a shore based training establishment, and remained there until he was demobilised on 3rd January 1919.
Alec married Violet Loydall in Rugby in 1930 and at the time of the 1939 National Register, they were living at "The Forge", Dunchurch, Rugby.
Alex died on14th August 1975 at the age of 78
