24, High Street, Prescot AM3 167911, Royal Air Force Edwin was born in Prescot on 23rd October 1894, the son of Henry and Mildred Prescott. Living at 35 Columbia Road at the time of the 1911 census, the family moved to High Street in 1914, where Henry was recorded in the 1914 Electoral Roll (below). The family were Methodists.
Edwin enlisted as an Air Mechanic (3rd Grade) to the Royal Air Force on 14th May 1918. He recorded his trade as "Electrician".
In the summer of 1919, he sailed for Heliopolis in Egypt, also serving in Kantara. He left Alexandria in Egypt on 2nd October 1919 and returned to the UK, where he was demobilised on 1st December 1919.
