10, Williams Street, Prescot Private 42031, 3rd Bn., South Lancashire Regiment Albert Naylor was born in Prescot on 4th March 1894, the third of five sons of Richard Scarisbrick Naylor and his wife, Isabella. The 1911 census listed the family at 71 Kemble Street, where 17 year old Albert was recorded as a Grocer's Carter.
Albert was 21 and working as a Copper Wire Drawer when he enlisted to the army on 12th November 1915 in Prescot. By this time, the family address was 10, Williams Street, Prescot.
He remained in the UK until 24th November 1917 when he was posted to the Base Depot in France from where he was subsequently posted to the 7th Bn of the regiment.
On 1st June 1918, Albert was wounded, suffering a Gun Shot Wound to the thigh. This ultimately required medical treatment in the UK, from 14th June to 13th October when he returned to France
On 14th October 1918, he was transferred to the Labour Corps as Private 635963 as a result of being medically downgraded. He returned to the UK on leave in early 1919 and whilst there, he married Louise Robinson on 25th May at Prescot Parish Church

On 7th August 1919, he was again transferred, this time to the Royal Army Medical Corps as Private 147196. and was still with them when demobilised on 12th December 1919
Albert was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal which he received on 8th September 1921
The 1939 register showed that Albert and Louisa were living at 32, Dragon Lane, Whiston. Albert was once again working as a Wire Drawer at the Wire Works.
He died in Prescot in 1976, aged 82
