Also Served: Thomas Duffy - Thomas DUFFY
34, Bretherton Road, Prescot Private 059823, Army Service Corps The 1911 census listed 43 year old Thomas and his family at the above address, where Thomas recorded his occupation as "Minding Small Wire Machines" at the Wire Works. Along with wife Ellen, he listed children Jack (15) and Thomas (14), both also working at the Wire Works, Ernest (12), Alexander (8) and Alice (6).
Thomas listed his occupation as "Horseman" when he attested to the Army Service Corps on 18th February 1915 at Warrington. He recorded his age as 35, 8 years younger than it was 4 years previously.
His wife Ellen Louise (nee Moore), was his next of kin. He noted that they had married in Aigburth in 1895 and had three children; Nellie (1900), Alexander (1903) and Alice (1904). It isn't clear why this doesn't match his 1911 census return.
Thomas was, however, discharged on 9th June 1915 as being no longer physically fit for military service.
He does not appear to have served overseas and therefore had no medal entitlement.
