Fred was a 15 year old Scholar living at Tyne Villa, Millbrook Lane, Eccleston. Also present were parents John (54) and Elizabeth (55), and siblings James (20), Agnes (18) and Teresa (15). Though John was from St Helens and Elizabeth from Rainford, all four children had been born in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Fred joined the King's (Liverpool) Regiment on 10th November 1914. He went to France with is unit on 7th November 1915.
He was wounded at an unknown date and discharged on 17th February 1917.
He was entitled to the Silver War Badge, 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal
