22, East View, Prescot Royal Navy Born in Prescot on 20th February 1886, by the early 20th century Richard Corless and his family were living in Oldham. Richard had previously worked as a Machine Minder at the Wire Works.
He joined the Royal Navy on 4th May 1916, serving until 12th September 1919 on HMS 'Pembroke II'. This was actually a shore establishment, rather than a ship, and was often used for men who were 'Between postings'
No further details of his service are known
The 1939 National register, shown below, recorded Richard living in Oldham, where he was employed as a Town Hall Porter
