Pte Westworth is commemorated on the EFD Roll of Honour. He was born on 6th May 1895 in Prescot and worked at the Wire Works as a Machinist.
Robert Westworth probably attested for military service in 1913. At the time, he lived at 14, West Street, St Helens.
He went to France with the Battalion on 13th February 1915. At some point, he became a Prisoner of War and a German report of 8th March 1918 reported that he had been wounded in the Left Shoulder and was being held at Limburg Camp. After his release in Janury 1919, he reported that he had in fact suffered a bullet wound to the Left Hip, and that it had occured at Epehy, on the Somme.
He was disembodied on 5th April 1919
Pte Westworth was entitled to the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
In 1921, he once again joined the army, this time as Signaller 2557410 with the Royal Corps of Signals (Territorials). He remained in service until 11th May 1923.
