18, Derby Square, Prescot Sapper 250438, Royal Engineers George was the youngest son of Charles and Mary Hodges. The family lived at the above address at the time of the 1911 census, where George, aged just 13, was recorded as a General Labourer at the Wire Works.
By the time he joined the army on 24th February 1916, George was an 18 year old Electrical Fitter, recording his father Charles of the same address as his next of kin. He was posted to the Army Reserve and only called up for full service on 29th June 1918.
He was demobilised in Scotland on 22nd February 1919. He does not appear to have served overseas and therefore had no medal entitlement.
It is believed that he died in Liverpool in 1967, aged 69. Ref. No.:
