2, Park Road, Prescot Private 21376, 16th Bn., Cheshire Regiment Frederick was born in Oxford but by the 1911 census he was living (aged 24) at 45, High Street, Prescot, with his wife Alice, a native of Knotty Ash. They had been married for less than a year and had no children. Frederick recorded his occupation as 'Gardener (Domestic)'.
Aged 28 years and 4 months, he attested for military service in Birkenhead on 5th December 1914, being posted to the Cheshire Regiment.
His name was included in the list published in the Prescot Reporter in May 1915 of men serving the colours.
Although he lived at 2, Park Road, his wife's address was listed as 11, Walker Place, Tranmere, with the Park Road address crossed out. They had a daughter, Nellie, born on 29th May 1916.
Frederick went to France on 27th January 1916, where he was posted to the 15th Battalion of the regiment with a new number of 45152. Throughout the early part of 1916, Frederick had a number fo spells in hospital suffering from Myalgia. He was subsequently transferred to 189th Coy of the Labour Corps in May 1917, with a new number of 113074.
Frederick demobilised in March 1919. He was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal, which he received in August 1921.
He died in 1966 in Prescot
