10, Rowson Street, Prescot Pte 21317, Royal Dublin Fusiliers Born in Neston, Wirral, around 1890, the 1911 census showed William living at the above address. Aged 21 and working as a Coal Miner at Sutton Oak Colliery, William's mother had been widowed by remarried William Mawdsley.
William joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers on 10th May 1915 and went to Gallipoli wit them on 19th November 1915. After the evacuation from Gallipoli, it seems likely that he was posted to France,
He was discharged, suffering from sickness, on 21st December 1918. His medal entitlement was to the 1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal and Silver War Badge.
William died in Prescot in 1970, aged 81.
