1, Moss Street, Prescot Private 3332, 5th Bn., South Lancashire Regiment Frank Hyde attested to the South Lancashire Regiment on 9th November 1914 at St Helens, aged 29. He was a native of Gorton, Manchester, but worked as a Pipe Fitter at the Cable Works.
He went to France with his unit on 6th August 1915. On 27th November 1915, he was admitted to a Field Ambulance suffering from a form of varicose veins, and was then moved to a Casualty Clearing Station, then Base Depot before finally returning to the UK on 11th December 1915.
Frank was discharged on 11th April 1916 as he was found to be 'medically unfit for further service'
His medal entitlement was the 1914/1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
