17, Mill Street, Prescot United States Army (I am indebted to John Yates for identifying Peter Keaveny as a native of Prescot)
Born in Prescot on 29th June 1897, Peter Keaveny was the son of John and Ellen Keaveny. The 1901 census showed the family at 11, Mill Street, Prescot. John and Ellen had two sons and three daughters.
By 1911, the family had moved along the road a little, now residing at 17, Mill Street. The census showed that John(43) and Ellen(42) had been married for 23 years, and that 3 of their 11 children had died. Six children lived with them; Katie (17, an Apprentice in the Laundry), Martin (15) a Collier, Peter (13), an Apprentice Greengrocer, and scholars Ellen (11), Annie (7) and Delia (3).
On June 11th 1912, Ellen, aged 45, boarded the ss 'Laconia' at Liverpool bound for Boston, Massachusetts as the family sailed for a new life in America. With Ellen were her children Katherine (18), Martin (16), Peter (14), Nellie (11), Annie (8) and Delia (4). It isn't clear what had happened to his father, John Keaveny.
By 1917, Peter lived in Fitchburg City, Massachusetts, and registered for the draft in the American Army. At this time, he recorded his next of kin as his father, John Keaveny, of the same address, 33 Worcester Street in Fitchburg.
It isn't known if Peter ever saw any service with the army, or what became of him after the war.
