Robert Taylor was born in Prescot on 1st March 1892, the second son of Samuel and Ann Taylor. At the time of the 1911 Census, Robert was still living with his parents at the above address, and is listed as a 19 year Copper Wire Drawer at the Wire Works. At some time after this, he must have migrated to Canada.
He attested to the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 22nd September 1914, declaring his occupation as "Waiter".
Sapper Taylor was pictured in the Prescot Reporter, stating that he was serving with the Divisional Signal Company of the Canadian forces.
No further information has yet been found about his service
