38, Beaconsfield Street, Prescot Private 117, 5th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment William Hayes enlisted to the newly formed 5th (Territorial) Battalion of the South Lancashire Regiment in April 1908. He extended his service fore a further 6 years in March 1914.
William was discharged on 6th April 1916. He was aged 48 at the time. His conduct was described as satisfactory, sober and honest. He did not serve overseas and had no medal entitlement.
