Gas Works, Prescot Pte 2009, 5th Bn., South Lancashire Regiment Reginald Hall was born in Hornsea, Middlesex, in 1897, the second son of John and Jennie Hall. He attended Prescot Grammar School from 1907 to 1912. The 1911 census showed the family living at the Gas Works, Prescot, where John Hall (a native of St Helens) was employed as a Gas Engineer and Manager.
Reginald attested for military service in the Territorial Battalion of the South Lancs at Prescot on 14th May 1914, three months before the outbreak of war. He was 17 years old and worked as a Clerk at the Prescot Gas Company. He remained in the UK with the Battalion until 16th February 1917 when he embarked for France., where he remained until 2nd March 1919.
Reginald was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
