Thomas KELLY

38 St Helens Rd, Prescot

Sapper WR/275530, Railway Troops, Royal Engineers

27 year old Thomas was a Plate Layer with the London and North Western Railway when he attested for service on 13th November 1915 at St Helens. He had married Emily Gleave in Prescot on 20th January 1908 and they had one daughter, also Emily, born on 13th August 1908.

His occupation of Plate Layer was one which was needed in the Engineers and so he was assigned to similar duties to those on 2nd August 1917.

Although I don't know the dates, Thomas served overseas at some point. He returned to the UK on 26th March 1919 and was demobilised the following day. His medal entitlement was to the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
