Patrick attested to the army on 8th June 1917 and was discharged on 27th November 1917 at Nottingham, his papers recording that he was no longer physically fit for service. He was 42 years old and his next of kin was his wife, Annie, of the same address.
His medical report showed that he was suffering from Lead poisoning, though this was caused by his profession as a painter and not by military service. (Many household paints in those days were Lead based so this was not an unusual illness for a painter).
He did not see overseas service and had no medal entitlement
