Attesting to the reserve of the Royal Flying Corps in December 1915, Thomas was aged 18, single and worked as a Machine Hand at the Wire works. His next of kin was listed as his mother, Ellen, of the same address.
It appears that he was posted to the reserve but then called up to the Machine Gun Corps as late as September 1918.
He was discharged in October 1919, at which time he gave his address as 21, Atherton Street, Prescot.
Thomas was the younger brother of John Hatton
