High Street, Prescot Private 22098, 13th Bn., South Lancashire Regiment William attested on 25th May 1915. He was 38 years old, single and worked as a Labourer. He gave his brother, John Farrington of Widnes, as his next of kin.
A report shows that in July 1916, he was released from a 30 day detention 9 days early, the detention being for absence and insolence to an NCO. Also in September 1916, he was confined to barracks for 13 days after being drunk and creating a disturbance.
On 7th October 1916 he was transferred to the 3rd Battalion of the regiment, and he appears to have had several other moves over the following months, through the records aren't legible. He went to France on 3rd November 1916 and remained there until 2nd December of that year, when he returned to England.
He was discharged from the army on 23rd March 1919.
