14, Chester Street, Prescot Private 471, 5th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment Thomas Corns was 20 years old when he attested to the 5th Battalion (Territorials) of the South Lancs on 11th April 1908. He worked as a Labourer at the Wire Works and stated his father William of the same address as next of kin.
The 1911 census showed the family at the above address, with William and his eldest three sons (Thomas, Ernest and Alfred) all employed at the Wire Works.
Thomas' records show his attendance at the annual training camp for four years, leading to his discharge on completion of 4 years engagement in April 1912.
He died in Prescot in 1968, aged 79.
