Also Served: James Lloyd -
74 Sewell Street, Prescot
Private, Manchester Regiment
Born in Huyton Quarry in 1899, James was the second son of Ernest and Alice Lloyd.Ref. No.:
James attested to the army in May 1916 in St Helens. At the time he was single, 18 years old and worked as a Wire Drawer at he Wire Works. He recorded his next of kin as his mother, Alice McGarry, of the same address in Sewell Street, suggesting that his father was now deceased and that his mother had remarried.
It isn't clear what happened during James' service, but he seems to have been discharged and then re-enlisted into the Manchester Regiment in 1918. He remained with the Manchester Regiment until he was demobbed in February 1919, and it appears that he did not serve overseas.
