John Carr was born in Southport on 31st March 1889.
A pre-War Territorial, he was embodied on 26th May 1915, aged 25, but was not called up initially. His mother, Mrs Paulina Jones of the above address, was listed as his next of kin.
Due to his poor eyesight, he was transferred to Class W of the Army Reserve on 26th July 1916 in order that he could continue his employment at Sutton Heath & Lead Green Collieries.
On January 4th 1918, John married Elizabeth Aspinall at Whiston.
John was Demobbed 14th December 1918. He had not served overseas and so had no medal entitlement.
