45, Mines Avenue, Prescot Martin Kelly was born in Prescot around 1888, the son of Patrick and Margaret Kelly. The 1901 census recorded the family as living at Pottery Place in Prescot. Patrick, a native of Ireland, was employed as a Bricklayer’s Labourer whilst Martin was a Glass Works Labourer.
By 1911, Martin was living as a Boarder at 43, Mines Avenue, Prescot, the home of Patrick and Rose Monaghan and their children. Martin was now working as a Coal Miner.
Research into his military history is ongoing. I am informed by Martin’s family that he served in the Ypres and Somme sectors, being wounded in the leg and face.
After the war, Martin worked at BICC in Prescot. He died in Prescot in 1957, aged 69.
