Parr's Bank Memorial

Parr’s Bank occupied the building which now houses Prescot Museum.

The bronze wall plaque was manufactured by the Birmingham Guild and unveiled around 1920. Parr’s was taken over by National Westminster Bank and when the building fell into disuse, the memorial plaque was moved to the National Westminster bank in Eccleston Street. Then in 1978, it was again moved, this time to the Chapel of the NatWest Staff College at Chipping Norton.

When the Staff College was sold as part of the bank’s takeover by Royal Bank of Scotland in 1999, the memorial was once again moved, this time to the group archives department in Edinburgh, where it remains today. It has not been possible to acquire a picture of the memorial.

The plaque contains the inscription:-

In Memory Of The Following Member Of The Staff Of This Branch Who Gave His Life In The Great War 1914-1918

followed by the single name:-

Charles H. Rowed
